August Schell awarded 5-year, $37m agency-wide contract to supply select Red Hat products to the Department of Defense
On behalf of the Department of Defense, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has awarded August Schell a 5+ year DoD-wide contract to supply select Red Hat products. The contract, valued in excess of $37m, allows all components of the US Department of Defense and supported organizations that utilize the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) to freely download Red Hat products from an August Schell download site set up specifically to service this contract - http://redhat.augustschell.com .
Several of the products, specifically Red Hat Certificate System and the Red Hat Directory Server (LDAP) are used at the core of the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) public key infrastructure (PKI). The DoD PKI is the world’s largest and most advanced PKI installation, supporting all DoD military and civilian personnel worldwide.
The contract also allows free product downloads for all non-DOD employees (e.g. contractors, volunteers, allies) on-site at the US Department of Defense and those not on-site but using equipment furnished by the US Department of Defense (GFE) in support of initiatives which are funded by the US Department of Defense.
