and Industry.
The Job
August Schell's business is expanding rapidly and we are seeking multiple Senior Software
Engineers/Architects with various skill levels to support several key development projects.
Candidates must be independent, resourceful, professional and possess strong written and verbal
communication skills to engage directly with customers to understand their data, search &
navigation needs, develop requirements, design solutions and build applications in Java/J2EE/.Net
or other relevant emerging technologies.
Ideal candidates will have experience with server-side Java development as well as data modeling
and information transformation or extract-transform-load (ETL). Success in this role requires
sharp thinking and competent understanding of service deployment/troubleshooting on Linux/Unix
and Windows platforms.
Successful candidates will be called upon to perform requirements definition, application design,
development, performance tuning, and deployment.

Our biggest successes have been with hiring Software Engineers who play at least one musical
instrument (not a requirement), who enjoy playing with computers in their spare time, and who
enjoy Science Fiction.
Skills and Experience
A TS/SCI level Security Clearance is a Plus, but not required for all positions.
- Minimum 5 years direct experience as a Software Engineer/Developer
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Self-starter who takes initiative and works well in a team environment
- Exceptional conceptual and analytical problem solving abilities
- Self-motivated and able to define, plan, and implement long term tasks and goals
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently when required.
- Highly competent with Java/J2EE in the Unix/Linux & Windows environment
- Hands-on Experience with J2EE or other server-side Java Technologies, Apache httpd/Tomcat,
Perl, XML
- Strong experience with data modeling, relational databases, ETL.
Education
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Science, Engineering,
or related technical discipline.

OR comparable experience supported by strong references who can validate past record of
ability to produce results.
- Prospective candidates will be given an interview test that tests the ability to reason
(brainteasers).
